A community organizing effort designed to reduce
young adult's
access to alcohol by changing
communities policies and practices.
 
Goals:
(1)
Reduce Underage Drinking by effectively limiting
the access of alcohol to those under 21.
 
(2) Communicate a clear message that underage drinking
is both inappropriate and unacceptable.
 

KCTC DATA

When funded in 2007, Sumner County ranked 6th highest in Past 30 Day Use, and8th highest in Binge Drinking, compared to 105 Kansas Counties.

Sumner County Now Ranks:
85th in Past 30 Day Use
& 83rd  in Binge Drinking.

 

99% participation on the KCTC Survey: it is a clear picture of what students are self-reporting. Over three years, Sumner County has declined by 13.7%, moving 2007's use of 36.7% - all the way down to 23%.Our ranking in the state has moved from the near top, "in the red," to well down into the lowest quartile.WOW!

Businesses & Volunteers have worked to address this issue of underage drinking, and a strong message was spread through Media. We sincerely appreciate Everyone’s Efforts and all you do in support of SCCDAT!

A partnership of the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce, Wellington Police Department and SCCDAT.  2011 Training: offered by the Alcohol Beverage Control to volunteer servers at the Chamber

"MIP Diversion Program"

A partnership between SCCDAT, the Sumner County Attorney's Office, Court Services, Sumner Mental Health Center and Mirror, Inc. Several requirements of this program are new to Sumner County, including a component of parent involvement and education on Social Hosting laws.
